A reusable gel ice pack is a refreezable, non-toxic cooling pack that is frozen flat and placed inside a cooler bag so insulin, peptides or medical samples stay inside their temperature window. This line covers 3 of the 96 models we manufacture, and ships mainly as the cooling companion to the insulin cooler range rather than as a stand-alone commodity.
How a pack set is specified: by the internal volume of the bag, the holding time you need, and the ambient temperature the product travels in. Because those three change the answer, we size the pack set per product instead of selling a fixed count.
Two placement rules cover most projects: packs should line the walls and base of the cavity rather than sit on top of the product, so cooling is even; and the pack must not compress the foam insert — otherwise the vials lose the very retention the case was bought for.
Customisation and care: size, shape, gel colour and printed logo can all be changed, and the packs are refreezable and non-toxic. This is also the cheapest place to put a private label. How to size a gel pack set for a cooler bag
A gel pack set is specified by three variables: the internal volume of the bag, the holding time you need, and the ambient temperature the product travels in. Because these change the answer, we size the pack set per product rather than selling a fixed count.
Two practical rules apply to most projects. First, packs should line the walls and base of the cavity rather than sit on top of the product, so cooling is even. Second, the pack thickness must not compress the foam insert — otherwise the vials lose the very retention the case was bought for.
- Short daily carry, mild climate → thinner packs, two to three units
- Longer travel or warm climate → thicker packs and a fully lined cavity
- Multiple vials with a foam insert → packs in the lid and base only, so slots stay vertical

Where gel packs are not enough
Gel packs are not a precision instrument. They hold a range, not a set point, and the range shifts with ambient temperature and with how the packs were frozen — if you need a documented 2–8 °C window, a phase-change pack or a powered box is the correct choice.
They are also not suitable for frozen biologics: the frozen range needs dry ice or a dedicated cold chain, and dry ice brings its own packaging and transport restrictions. As with every line, we supply cooling packs — not registered medical devices.
